David draws upon more than 40 years of business experience to help owners of small and medium-sized companies in the Northern Virginia area achieve success and realize their ambitions.
David founded, operated and sold a $7 million import/export business, was CEO of a $60 million import/export business and was a Partner with Ernst and Young, one of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms.
His business experience is diverse, including general management, finance, sales, marketing, customer service, procurement, strategic management consulting, accounting, auditing and human resources. He has served clients in many industries including private sector, publicly held and not-for-profit.
David knows the ins and outs of owning and running a business and all that it entails. He has led strategic planning workshops for key executives in various industries. His experience is ideally suited for coaching business owners.
David is a CPA. He is married, has three married children, and five grandkids. His hobbies include family, golf, tennis, fitness, reading and investing.

Virginia ActionCOACH David MacGillivray will receive “Member of the Year” Award

(McLean, VA) ActionCOACH’s David MacGillivray, has recently won the “Member of the Year” award by his local BNI Northern Virginia chapter, Tysons Mastermind. This award will be presented to MacGillivray on Saturday, January 22nd at the BNI Idol & Gala at the Fair Oaks Marriott in Fairfax, VA.
BNI is a business and professional networking organization that allows only one person per profession to join a chapter. It provides a positive, supportive and structured environment to further business through word of mouth marketing.
The “Member of the Year” award is voted on by fellow members of the BNI Northern Virginia chapter and is awarded to the member that has contributed to others’ success and exemplified a giving attitude. MacGillivray on receiving notice that he had won, said, “This is a huge surprise, completely unexpected – I’m honored, of course, but feel that it belongs to all of the members – we have an outstanding team and I see all of them making significant contributions every week.”
He went on to thank the members in his BNI Tysons Mastermind group and had the following to say to all of them, “Most of all, I see a spirit of commitment, cooperation and teamwork that will take us to a new level in 2011 – many thanks for your vote of confidence.”
