Originally from the Caribbean Region, Eric has been in the field of Geography for over twenty years serving in a variety of capacities. Eric believes that you “cannot walk your way off an island”. He also believes that “in order to achieve the goal of having a High Performing Business, the business owner must be willing to take the first step in creating a high performing environment facilitating team success.”
Eric is the former Assistant Director of the United States Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency and served as the Alternate Territorial Coordinating Officer and the Governor’s Authorized Representative. While at the agency, Eric was successful in leading the implementation of an agency-wide business process to secure additional funding from U.S. Federal agencies. Eric also led the development and implementation of an accountability system to secure $40 Million Dollars of Homeland Security Funding. Nurturing a team environment through trust, rule development, and leading by example, in part, proved to be a formula for change and success.
Eric was previously employed with the United States Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Washington, D.C. as a Cartographer & International Affairs Program Analyst. In addition to providing workshops to business and practitioners on developing an accurate Geospatial System, Eric was responsible for managing the development of the Puerto Rico and thevUnited States Virgin Islands Spatial Data/Mapping Infrastructure. He was responsible for developing and managing the Africa portfolio working in close collaboration with counterparts at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), colleagues in Africa and Europe, and international organizations with common interests in Africa.
Eric was honored to serve the United States as an accredited adviser and as an official member of U.S. Delegations to a number of United Nation meetings in Africa, Europe, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean to include delegations to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), specifically, IOCARIBE.
Eric considers himself fortunate to work in a variety of thematic areas as; Emergency Management, GIS, GPS, Project and Program Management, Geodesy, Land Surveying, Remote Sensing, Environmental Management, Land and Water Use Management, Coastal Zone Management, Food Security, Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation, Agriculture, Agriculture Meteorology, Observing Systems, Public Policy, and Business Development.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson University, Master Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, and Master in Business Management (MBA) from University of Maryland University College. He is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and a Founding Member of the International Geospatial Society. Mr. Linzey is also an active Member of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce as a Bronze Level Sponsor and Chair of the Business Development Committee, a member of TeamNetwork, and an active Member of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce.
