Why are you here, at this moment of your life?
You got to this page because you are a business owner, or you see
yourself as being one in the future.
Here are 5 Questions to ask to see if business coaching with me could be right for you...
1. Is my business performing at the level that I want it to perform at today?
2. Is my business supporting the lifestyle that I really want to have today?
3. Do I have a clear plan that I follow that achieves consistent results that I am confident will get my business to where I want it to be in the future?
4. Will my business support the lifestyle that I want to have in the future?
5. Is my business a commercial, profitable enterprise that works without me working long hours, even if I "enjoy" the work?
This next question is the most important one...
If you answered NO to any of the 5 questions above,
are you ready to do something about it?
If you are ready to take the first step, then read on, because I am YOUR ActionCOACH Business Coach!
Why am I a Business Coach?
I like to compare businesses to race cars…some need to have some work done before they can be “ready to race”, and the owner doesn’t know how to do that work. Other cars are “race ready” but the owner doesn’t know how to drive fast enough, and safely enough, to be competitive enough to get to "The Winner's Circle". Still others are race ready, with an owner who knows how to drive to win, but no one outside the car to help them to figure out what the other cars are doing and to give them advice on how and when to “make the winning moves”.
I am a business coach because my passion in life is to help owners to build winning businesses, operate them “at top speed”, and provide them with the winning advice needed to “get to the Winner’s Circle” every time they race!
A little about me and how I got to where I am today…
I’ve coached individuals and teams to success for over 30 years. I started coaching sports and physical skills in YMCA’s while I was in high school and Villanova University. It was a great opportunity for me to see how big a part emotion and motivation play in people getting past the barriers that hold them back from success…plus it reinforced the value that is provided when someone besides yourself is pushing you to get past those barriers!
From there I moved on to 7 years of flying in the U.S. Navy, an experience that significantly stretched my personal limits and helped me to understand the dynamics of high performance teams. I literally “became a different person” in the process, which is the key to overcoming challenges in the world of adult life and work. I saw first hand how leaders caused change to occur in their organizations to improve performance, and got to “practice” at an early age.
I moved from the Navy to a Fortune 100 corporation in 1982. It was a great way to see how the things that I had learned in the Navy applied to the world of business, and to learn a whole new set of skills. I spent 15 years in sales and marketing, and 5 years in customer service. During my sales career I trained over 220 people in the course of 18 months to double the size of my division’s sales force, set a record for sales growth in our national accounts group, and built some teams that set records for sales of capital
equipment and the introduction of new products. I got into customer service leadership as part of an initiative to “change the culture” and make service something more than a place that customers called when there was an immediate problem, and led my team to national recognition.
What I learned from my corporate experience was pretty straightforward, and was the core of my successes…the way to grow your own business is to focus on growing the client’s business. I found that, over time, I spent more of my time with people helping them to grow their businesses than talking with them about mine…and that’s what made me successful.
I also learned that my passion was in doing that, and not being part of that major corporation. That’s when the chance to become a part of Action International (yes, the name changed in 2007) came along when I retired in 2003 It’s been the most fulfilling choice that I’ve made in my life so far! I get to help people figure out what is between them and the success that they want in their businesses, help them to figure out how to achieve what they really want, and then work with them over time to insure that the needed changes actually occur! It’s very different from the results sometimes obtained from training, or consulting, which very often “don’t stick”. I get to be there to insure that things really happen, and that change is fundamental and permanent.
There was another change in 2007. I elected to merge my individual practice with another senior Action Coach, Lee Huffman, to create a business coaching firm, ActionCOACH Cornerstone. While we had both succeeded individually, we realized that we could help far more business owners, members of their teams, and the communities in which they operate, by creating a larger organization that would permit us to leverage what we had learned to touch far more businesses and owners than we could on our own. The links below will take you to our firm website so that you can learn more about ActionCOACH Cornerstone.

The common threads for all of the businesses, and their owners, is that they’ve wanted to take their businesses further than they had on their own, faster than they had on their own…and that my application of the Action system provides a great vehicle for them to achieve the changes that they need in their businesses to get their lives to where they want them to be.
