Background Experience . . .

Key accountabilities have included brand and product marketing roles in wholesale/retail, craft-based and capital-intensive manufacturing management, international sourcing & procurement, import logistics & distribution and strategic planning. Tony has a BA(Hons) degree and in 2004 completed an MBA. He has extensive experience working with successful teams and in systems, improving efficiency, productivity and of course profitability.
Coaching in Business . . .
In 2005 Tony had the opportunity to start and build a business that would let him draw on his many years of experience to help business owners achieve success for themselves in their personal and business lives. He says “ActionCOACH contacted me at a time I was already preparing to start my own company, it was a perfect opportunity to build my own coaching business and also work as a part of a global team.”
Tony has always been passionate about helping people be the best that they can be. He says “coaching is essentially unlocking the potential that lies in individuals and in their business. My coaching role is to take people beyond the point they would otherwise have stopped – I’m passionate about helping people in this way – it’s hugely rewarding and an absolute privilege for me.”
He continues “There is no doubt that every business is different and yet there are common challenges that business owners face: finding a way to win back their time for themselves and their families (often working extraordinarily long hours), building a strong team and also making them more money. My role as a coach is to ask the questions that bring absolute clarity to the challenges the business owner is facing, offer solutions to them and then work alongside to help them accomplish their pre-determined and worthwhile goals.” Tony adds “In my role as a coach, business owners give me permission to hold them accountable for the achievement of their goals.”
In the last year Tony has worked with a wide variety of business types: Retail, Manufacturing, Digital Display, IT, Engineering and Engineering Services, and Childcare. Examples of testimonials may be found by clicking here.
More about Tony . . .
Tony has been married for 30 years and is the very proud father of three boys aged 23, 19 and 17. He says “We are all passionate about classical music and enjoy instrumental playing as a family.”
Tony is a lifelong learner and says “After completing my MBA including 9 three hour exams, I was determined that was it in terms of my formal academic education so for me I read at least one business book each month, often more, and listen to, or watch cd’s/dvd’s that will help me help my clients. I also attend conferences and training sessions to help my own personal development. I also have two coaches holding me accountable for achieving my goals. I really benefit from this and each session is a learning experience for me and helps me appreciate how my clients feel when being coached.”
“I am very fortunate to live at the southern edge of the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh. Within a few minutes I can find myself up in the hills enjoying the fresh air and getting a perspective on life. I love the challenge of reaching the top often having to take a rest but always knowing that I will reach my goal if I maintain a steady pace. Then at the top, the clarity of vision this brings, not only in terms of the 360 degree view but about life as a whole. It’s all too easy to get so close to the detail the bigger picture is lost. In much the same way, as a coach I invite business owners to look down on their business from above, as I do mine, and I help them build a vision for their chosen future.”
