Since beginning business coaching we have increased our sales by 360% and that was in the first 3 months! When we started, we were a one man show with Wayne working only by himself for himself. Being a typical Aussie male I guess when I take something on I work at it until I can say – see I told you I could do it. All my working life when things did not work out my response has been to just work harder and longer until it did work. Most of the time working smarter would have been better and occasionally I did manage to do this, but quite often I did not know what to do to work smarter so I would just work harder until it achieved results. Commitment to me is if I take something on I make it work the best way I can providing it benefits all those involved and I do not disadvantage others along the way. Unfortunately though I am getting older – in body at least even if the mind still thinks it is a teenager – and working harder is not quite as attractive as it once was. Having owned Tint a Car for just over three years and even though I had applied the same principal of just being one of the team and leading by example of working harder and longer than the rest of the team members, I had known for more than a year that this was not the way forward for the business. While I had a rough idea of the direction I wanted to head in I did not have the knowledge of how to put a plan together and follow it. That’s where Action Coach and Warrick came into the picture. After an initial meeting Warrick seemed to have a totally different approach to that of a couple of other Business Coaches I had talked to. So despite what seemed a very hefty fee I decided to give him a go. This is where commitment comes in. It is not easy for a slightly aging and reasonably proud Australian male to pay someone to cut him off at the kneecaps and kick his butt every week, even when he knows he needs it and it is doing him good. I could see right from the very first meeting that there was a way to change our direction – not just for the business but also at a personal level. Again I will tell you that this has not been easy. It also means changing twenty plus year old habits. Things are changing – two steps forward and half a step back – and with each step forward I can see more areas to improve and refine procedures. After nine months I can even see a way to remove myself from the business and allow the team to take over. Quite a few large steps to make before we get there but now I can actually see the possibility, my commitment to get there by the end of 2010 is stronger than ever. So Warrick, I reckon there have been times when you thought maybe I am not worth the effort but in February this year you also made a commitment for at least twelve months and I intend to hold you to that one. I think my wife could have the last say on commitment. No matter where we go and how tough it gets, after twenty eight years with a man who does not normally talk about his problems and could be diagnosed as a workaholic, Carleen is still just as committed now as she has ever been to be part of the team. She is looking forward to the end of 2010 when her husband will have lots of spare time on his hands to enjoy some of the benefits of the sacrifice and long hours of work and with no kids left at school maybe a few bucks in the pocket to spend. Without Warrick Bidwell’s coaching and support over the last nine months I don’t know where our business would be today. Times are very tough and I have had to push myself beyond my comfort zone, to be proactive in marketing and promotions, occupancy and conversion rate. I found both workshops excellent! Having been in the sales industry for many years, I have attended quite a few workshops like these and found Action Coach’s to be extremely beneficial and rewarding. They were able to make the workshop appeal to everyone in the room whether they were business owners or employees. It was very evident within the first few minutes that Warrick is very experienced in his field and understands the constraints and issues faced by employees and business owners. In Business, we now focus more on communication and relationships, (rather than price, price, price, although this is important too) with our customers, our approach to customers is professional and confident; We now have uniforms, phone scripts and killer questions in place as a guide, turnover time for quotes is now faster and we now follow up our quotes, our feedback from customers has been very positive.
