Success in business is often about the amount of concrete workable principles you can apply. There are a lot of theories out there about how to succeed, and most of them are unproven. Too many CEOs and business owners use the spaghetti method: you know, the one where you throw anything and everything at the wall and see what sticks. The problem is, most everything does not stick. It slides down the wall onto the floor.
But authors and entrepreneurs Brad Sugars and Monte Wyatt are aiming to change the business world with a strategy for proven success which is outlined in their book “Pulling Profits” due out in April. The pair agreed to sit down with us for a brief interview.
What follows is and Q & A with the authors.
Question: Tell us a little bit about the book. What makes “Pulling Profits” different from other business books?
Answer: “Pulling Profits” is a quintessential modern business handbook that breaks down the strategies and disciplines that will help any business grow exponentially, and details how business owners can work to get out of their own way.
Question: The concept seems simple but revolutionary in thinking. How did you come up with the idea for the book?
Answer: It all started with a simple conversation. We (authors Brad Sugars and Monte Wyatt) were talking about how many people comment on how companies like Apple and Ikea seem to make money like magic.
“I immediately said it’s not magic, it’s a simple formula. And if you understand it, you can do it too, even if you’re a small business,” Sugars said.
In that moment, “Pulling Profits” was conceived.
Question: The book is described as a handbook. Can you elaborate?
Answer: It is a modern business handbook that breaks down the strategies and disciplines that will help you grow any business exponentially. As we said before, it’s about helping people get out of their own way.
Question: What can readers expect to glean from the book?
Answer: This approximately 370-book is a roadmap for exponential growth filled with give simple disciplines that will allow any business owner to succeed. Too many business owners believe that plateaus in business are inevitable. The amazing concepts in this book dare entrepreneurs, executives, and CEOs to embrace consistent growth and overcome the self-limiting mindsets that scream that anything less is acceptable.
Through the five disciplines outlined in this book, we hope that we are changing lives. It’s truly groundbreaking stuff. We are hearing that people are buying copies not just for themselves, but for their entire teams. The principles are that impactful, that profound.
Question: The book talks about developing a money-making mind-set. What does that mean, exactly?
Answer: Developing a money-making mindset is essential to business and investing success. Too many business people operate from a space of “this is good enough.” They believe that every business will plateau, and some settle for mediocrity. But what if we told you those profit-limiting beliefs could be abolished? It’s true.
Question: ActionCOACH is one of the world’s leading business coaching franchises. Brad founded ActionCOACH, but you’re both involved with the business. How is the book affiliated with ActionCOACH?
Answer: This book is in line with the ActionCOACH brand mission of “World Abundance Through Business Re-Education,” and offers vital resources business owners, entrepreneurs, and students.
Question: Education is important at ActionCOACH?
Answer: Yes, it is.
“You must learn before you earn,” Sugars said. “We want to help educate people. It’s a huge part of my personal mission. It’s why I do daily videos on social media, it’s why we engage with people on social media and at conferences. It’s why We wrote ‘Pulling Profits,’ and it’s why we create so much of the content that we do.”
Question: The book outlines five disciplines designed to help CEO’s and business leaders expand the business exponentially year after year. What are some of the strategies?
Answer: The first is Strategy, which is defined by a business model that sets the business up for massive growth. The second is Business Development. Too many people believe that this means just marketing and sales. That’s false. Business development is about getting and KEEPING your customers. Third, it’s the discipline of People. You have to grow people in your business. If you build the people, they will build the business. Fourth, is Execution. You can have the best of everything but in this day and age proper execution sets you up for success. The final discipline is Mission, which means connectivity between people and the company. You have to build an emotional connection. Think about it. Apple fans don’t just LIKE Apple. They LOVE Apple. Most are loyal customers for life because the brand has established an emotional connection with them.
Question: What do you most hope people will take away from this book?
Answer: The goal is, of course, for CEOS and business owners to think big, to not settle. Growth is within reach, and all that it takes is an adjustment of attitude and a strategy battleplan, which “Pulling Profits” provides. People can change the world, and make it a better place when they throw out their self-limiting beliefs and reach higher than they ever believed they could.
Question: Where can people purchase the book?
Answer: It can be ordered through the ActionCOACH shop, here: https://shop.actioncoach.com/products/pulling-profits-out-of-a-hat-hardcover-book-pre-order-only. It will also be available at booksellers like Barnes and Nobel and on Amazon.com.
